THE PROBLEM
A brand about calm can’t be chosen from chaos
Backlit is built to carry a family’s mental load — the tracking, the follow-through, the poster board your daughter mentioned needing Thursday. A product that personal needs a site that feels exactly right, and no flat mockup tells you how a brand actually feels when you’re inside it.
And a launch needs a voice at volume: a steady stream of story content, week after week, without a content team on payroll.
THE APPROACH
Ten working websites, then a story engine
Instead of presenting comps, we built ten complete websites — live deployments, each one a different visual world for the same brand. A parchment desk where scribbled notes resolve into “Thursday’s handled.” A child’s playroom. A lamplit living room. A candlelit hush. A night sky full of lanterns. Backlit didn’t have to imagine anything; they clicked through their options and felt the difference.
They chose Available Light, an evolution of the Sky Lanterns concept — wishes rising into an indigo night.
Then we built The Engine: an AI content system that tells the Backlit story on schedule. It orchestrates the creative tools — Claude for story, Higgsfield for video, ElevenLabs for voice — through a gated pipeline where a human approves the story, then the storyboard, then the final cut. Eight carousels, eight talking-head edits, and an original animated series following one family through everyday overwhelm, with Backlit as the recurring quiet hero. It runs on Backlit’s own keys. They own it.
“Most pitches end with a mockup. Ours ended with ten working websites.”
THE RESULT
Double the views, and they own the machine
Eight weeks into the content run, Backlit’s views have doubled — 24 pieces of story content across three formats, telling one continuous story instead of shouting into the feed.
And nothing about it depends on us. The site is theirs. The Engine runs on their keys with their approval at every gate. That’s the standard: build it right, teach it real, hand it over working.
Ten sites, not ten mockups
Every concept shipped as a working deployment. Backlit chose their direction by clicking through real websites, not squinting at flat comps.
The Engine, owned
The AI content system runs on Backlit's own keys with a human approval gate at every step — story, storyboard, video. It keeps working after we step back.
One story, three formats
Carousels, talking-head edits, and an original animated series following one family through everyday overwhelm — 24 pieces in eight weeks.
