We consolidated it into one Next.js build, migrated the DNS, ran the 301s, and built a custom guide so the owner could run it herself. She now manages her own site on about $20 a month with zero agency dependency.
Mortenson Ranch was running on an antiquated site that left Clint answering questions the site should have handled. We rebuilt it and handed it back — the new site took a stack of recurring questions off his plate, and it’s his. That’s the pattern on every build: we’re done when you’re in control.

A retainer you choose, not one you’re trapped in.
We’re not against retainers. We’re against retainers that exist because you’d lose access to your own business if you stopped paying. After handoff you can run completely independent — many clients do. If you want us on for ongoing content, updates, or strategy, that’s a partnership you opted into because the work is worth it. The leash is the problem. We don’t build the leash.
The questions worth asking.
No. That's the entire point. Some clients keep us on a retainer because they want ongoing work — not because they'd lose access to their own site if they stopped. Retainers are optional and unbundled. You can run independently after handoff, and most clients do.
The domain is registered to you. The code is in your repository. The hosting account is yours. The brand files are delivered. And you've been trained to make changes without calling us. If we vanished tomorrow, nothing of yours would break or lock.
Less risky, usually. Agency dependency is the risk — one vendor who controls your domain, your code, and your ability to make a change. We build the opposite: you in control, us available if you want us, not required.
